Forming an emotional attachment to a favourite team is a key part of the fan experience, says Brendan Dwyer.
Director of research and distance learning for the Center for Sport Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University and a research fellow with the North American Society for Sport Management, Dr. Dwyer will address his work exploring the topic in a public presentation entitled “Rationally Studying the Irrational: A Career Examining Sports Fans” on Friday, Nov. 12.
Dwyer’s research interests centre around sport consumer behaviour with a distinct focus on the media consumption habits of fantasy sport participants and behavioural patterns of ticket purchasers.
His lecture, part of the Human Kinetics Distinguished Speakers’ Series, will begin at noon over Microsoft Teams. Register here to attend the webinar.
