The University of Windsor’s Board of Governors ratified a four-year collective agreement with the Windsor University Faculty Association (WUFA), which represents 850 academic staff including faculty, librarians, ancillary academic staff, sessional lecturers and sessional instructors.
The four-year deal expires June 30, 2021, and provides for scale increases totaling 7.1 per cent over the four-year period consisting of 1.6 per cent in 2017, 1.6 per cent in 2018, 1.75 per cent in 2019 and 2 per cent in 2020, along with a Windsor Salary Standard distribution in the last three years of the agreement, ensuring WUFA members are fairly and competitively compensated within the province. The deal also includes some benefit and language improvements. The parties started negotiations in late May and bargained throughout the summer, reaching a tentative agreement on September 1.
University of Windsor president Alan Wildeman expressed appreciation to both bargaining teams.
“Members of the Windsor University Faculty Association and University of Windsor administration bargaining teams are to be commended for their hard work over the summer, and their commitment to getting a good agreement completed before the beginning of the new academic year,” said Dr. Wildeman. “I know I speak on behalf of the campus community in thanking them.”
WUFA members ratified the agreement on September 19, voting 93 per cent in favour.
