Organizers of the eighth annual University of Windsor and Oakland University Teaching and Learning Conference invite proposals for workshops, presentations and posters.
Hundreds of instructors and students from institutions across Canada and the United States are expected to attend the event, hosted this year by Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, May 14 and 15.
This year’s conference, themed Empowering Students to Learn, will explore how and what students learn; the different pedagogies that empower student learning; and the many ways that we can assess learning. The conference will feature workshops, concurrent sessions, and in addition to a traditional poster session, an instructional fair which invites instructors to showcase a specific teaching strategy.
Proposal topics can include faculty development, student engagement, assessing student learning, student retention, and more. The conference aims to provide educators with practical, effective tools and ideas for promoting student learning.
“The conference is free to all University of Windsor and Oakland University faculty, librarians, staff and students,” says Erika Kustra, director of teaching and learning development. “It is an incredible international networking opportunity, connecting with faculty from the US, and sharing strategies and evidence that will help our students learn.”
The Centre for Teaching and Learning will provide transportation to and from Oakland University for University of Windsor faculty, staff, and students.
