The redesigned garden outside the Leddy Library’s front entrance will stand symbolically at the heart of campus, says vice-president university advancement Jonathan Braniff.
A dedication ceremony will coincide with a reception in recognition of donors to the Annual Giving Program on Thursday, May 24.
“This beautiful new garden is located physically in the middle of our campus, but more important is what it represents,” Braniff says. “It represents the support our faculty and staff give to students in so many ways, especially their tangible contributions to our giving programs.”
The garden will include plantings of native trees and grasses, a flowing water feature, and a bed of flowers – one to represent each of the faculty and staff members who made a donation to the 2011/12 Annual Giving Program.
“I hope everyone appreciates this wonderful contribution to the beautification of our campus,” says Braniff. “Our Facility Services workers have really put together a great tribute that will brighten the spirits of employees, students and visitors every time they pass by.”
The one-hour May 24 reception begins at 2 p.m., rain or shine, says development officer Mona Dosen.
“All eligible donors should have received a seed packet this week printed with their invitation,” she says.
If you plan to attend, RSVP to Dosen at firstname.lastname@example.org or 519-253-3000, ext. 4279.
