From concerts and stage productions that enhance its culture to business and engineering innovations that drive its economy, the University of Windsor plays a central role in the Windsor-Essex region.
Now a new Web site aims to document those ties to the community, says John Powell, director of web communications in the office of public affairs.
“We know that people right across campus are engaging the community in all sorts of ways,” he says. “This page is a centralized place that lists, on a daily basis, some of those stories.”
He says the range of stories is inspiring.
“Just since the beginning of 2012, I have added more than 30 individual pieces discussing everything from our students preparing for overseas development work to retired faculty members running independent study groups to a grad taking over the reins at the Chamber of Commerce,” says Powell.
“It all points to the way the university is part of the fabric of Windsor – we are woven into the warp and the weft of the city and the county.”
In support of the University’s strategic priority of engaging in community partnerships, Powell invites students, staff, faculty and alumni to describe their contributions to the social and economic well-being of Windsor-Essex.
